It’s been one of the most exciting experiences of my life – to show my work at Saatchi Gallery. Exhibiting at Collect met all my expectations. As an emerging artist it gave me the exposure I need both on a macro level with a lot of national press including my Radio interview with Robert Elms on BBC London, and at a micro level I was able to meet collectors, curators, consultants and museum directors. I am also pleased that the National Museum of Norway are acquiring my first book Dead Man’s Patterns for their Special Collections having seen my installation. On an artistic note the experience has allowed me to evaluate and think of ways to develop the work for my upcoming solo London show at Margaret Street Gallery. This is the second time I have worked with the Crafts Council and I have to say it’s always a pleasure to see the level of high standard and professionalism. Yesterday was a really special ‘bank-holiday-Monday’. I was invited to speak about my work on the Robert Elms Show on BBC LONDON radio in relation to my participation at COLLECT2013 taking place at the Saatchi Gallery (10-13 May 2013). Inspiration reference images featured on the Crafts Council website

The Crafts Council asked me to put together a Pecha Kucha of 10 inspirational images that influence and inspire my practice. Titled the Source featured on the COLLECT13 website. A lot of these influences have come from research in the archives at Dege & Skinner, London College of Fashion, the National Art Library, the National Army Museum and long intimate conversations with my dear friend and comrade software artist Ed Burton.

I am pleased to reveal Sculpture No.5 for COLLECT 2013 at Saatchi Gallery, London to be exhibited in the Project Space in May 10-13th of May. Miniature military Infantry tunic tailoring patterns drafted by Nina Penlington of Dege & Skinner Savile Row No.10 were replicated (inkjet print) in blue-pink acetate, and stapled together (only negative piece cut out) secured by nails into the Perspex. It’s exciting – jus a week to go to the big show…See you at COLLECT 2012

Sculpture No.3, Love Garden for the Crafts Council – COLLECT 2013, Saatchi Gallery

Love Garden Sculpture No.3 is made from a miniature tunic tailoring patterns drafted by Nina Penlington of Dege & Skinner Savile Row No.10. The pattern was drafted on a rectangle sheet of cream card(pattern paper), rolled and then one side of the pattern was sprayed turquoise and then cut into. So the structure of the sculpture is constructed from the negative space, stapled at places, and finally nailed into the base.

Just a little reminder COLLECT takes place from 10-13th May at Saatchi Gallery, and you can say hello at the Project Space

Sculpture No.1, Love Garden for the Crafts Council – COLLECT 2013, Saatchi Gallery

I am pleased to reveal Sculpture No.1 for COLLECT 2013 at Saatchi to be exhibited in the Project Space in May 10-13th of May. My very good friend and talented photographer Denis Laner took these photos – The work is made from miniature quarter scale military tailoring plastron patterns drafted by Nina Penlington of Dege & Skinner, No.10 Savile Row. For Number 1, I spray painted one side of the patterns in red referencing the colour of most uniforms. The structure is constructed by stapling the different ends of the negative space of the patterns, and screwed into large blocks of Perspex. The sculptures were made at my studio in Margaret Street Gallery. Indeed these are exciting times for me – 4 more to go.
