I am so glad to welcome back the real Anansi – my good friend/muse Akinkunmi Fadairo (see pic with the artist).
I first met the New Yorker whilst we were both completing our respective Masters at the University of Westminster. A Study on Anansi was my first solo show at Paul Smith’s Albermarle Street gallery, which featured Akin as a vector illustration. It also happens to be my header for The art of Hormazd Narielwalla.com, and subsequently I responded to Valentine’s day by making the series Anansi in Love. The series also featured as a window installation in Sheridan’s headquarters.
The below new work is a response to welcoming Akin, back to London. I am so fortunate to have him back in my life for a short period and these works are a homage to our friendship!
